Remediation and Eureka Math / EngageNY

Khan Academy has partnered with the Louisiana Department of Education to align our content to the Eureka Math / EngageNY math curriculum, which is the most popular math curriculum used in the United States according to a recent RAND Corporation study.

To access our aligned resources, go the Courses drop-down menu in the top left corner of your screen and find them listed under Math by grade.

To help your students catch up on core skills from previous grades, we’ve created topic foundations for third to eighth grade math.

Topic foundations are the prerequisite skills students need to be successful in your course. By assigning topic foundations, you can patch up holes in student understanding and identify the most prominent learning gaps for more intensive remediation.

For example, Topic A of Module 1 in the sixth grade Eureka Math/EngageNY curriculum is about representing and reasoning about ratios.

Prior to sixth grade, students have likely made multiplicative comparisons, such as “Jose has five times as many blocks as Eduardo.” Understanding fractions as an extension of division is another important conceptual idea that allows students to understand ratios.

With that in mind, we have the following compilation of resources to help a student review and build their topic foundation for sixth grade content.

We encourage you to consider using topic foundations before an upcoming unit or at the beginning of a unit.

Once students have finished their topic foundations, consider assigning our on-grade support resources.
