Which colleges are a good fit for me?
While you’re hard at work studying for the SAT, you’re also probably thinking about college. You may have already done some research to see which schools sound like a good fit, or you might be considering a particular field of study that will guide your college choice. Or, like many students, you might not know what you’re looking for yet! Luckily, there are many great resources to help you get started.
- The College Board, creators of the SAT, created the interactive tool Big Future to get you asking yourself questions about what’s important to you for college and career. The site includes advice on the college search process as well as college search features.
- Khan Academy offers a step-by-step College Admissions resource to help you navigate the entire process with a series of articles and videos, including stories from students, faculty, admissions staff, and Sal Khan himself!
- The U.S. Department of Education offers the College Scorecard as a way to find and compare schools. It also offers some great information on paying for college and financial aid.
- College Navigator from the National Center for Education Statistics lets you create and save lists of potential schools.
- If your high school has college or guidance counselors on staff, make sure to visit their office. Counselors can help you on an individual level as they get to know more about your academic record and your interests, allowing them to make personalized recommendations for you.
We wish you the best of luck in your college search!
